When Dr. Clifford Goodman Jr. opened his solo practice in Chandler in 1976, the surrounding landscape was dominated by cotton fields and dairy farms. Today, fifty years later, that single clinic has blossomed into MomDoc, the largest and most trusted women's healthcare group in Arizona.
No one will be denied access to services due to inability to pay. At MomDoc, all women are seen.
This isn't a footnote. It's a founding principle. Supported by a discount sliding fee schedule based on family size and income, this commitment ensures that where you live, what language you speak, or what insurance you carry should never stand between you and excellent healthcare.
The "Women for Women" identity emerged alongside this as a philosophical commitment to providing comprehensive care through a deeply empathetic lens. Every practice under the MomDoc umbrella operates under this mandate, because when someone walks through our doors, they are not a case number. They deserve to be treated with the same care and respect we'd want for our own families. And that's exactly what we do.
Our foundation was built on a multi-generational legacy of civic duty and medical excellence. Dr. Goodman Jr. inherited a passion for healing from his father, Dr. Clifford Goodman Sr., a beloved Chandler family physician in the 1950s, and his grandfather, George Nicholas Goodman, a pharmacist who served as Mayor of Mesa across five terms.
As the technology boom brought thousands of new families to the Valley, Dr. Goodman partnered with Dr. Scott R. Partridge. Together, they formed Drs. Goodman & Partridge, a practice that would oversee more than 100,000 pregnancies, achieve surgical firsts at Chandler Regional Medical Center, and serve as the cornerstone of East Valley maternal health. They remain the only two OB/GYN physicians to have ever served as Chief of Staff at Chandler Regional Hospital.
In 2001, recognizing the need to bring that standard of care to women across the entire state, the organization evolved into MomDoc under the leadership of CEO Nick Goodman. His philosophy? Act as "Switzerland," a neutral, highly efficient entity capable of partnering with massive health systems like Banner Health and Dignity Health without being absorbed by them. The practice pioneered the "Living Room" model, became the first in Arizona to offer 3D/4D ultrasound, and championed minimally invasive robotic surgeries using the da Vinci system.
As we celebrate our 50th Anniversary on June 23, 2026, our commitment remains unchanged. With over seventy diverse providers speaking more than half a dozen languages across sixteen locations, we promise to care for you through every stage of life. Whether you need prenatal care, contraception, menopause management, or complex gynecological surgery, our promise is simple:
Call today, and Be Seen Today.
MomDoc's clinical roster reflects the globalized demographics of the Silicon Desert. Our providers are fluent in Spanish, Portuguese, French, Mandarin, Cantonese, Hindi, and Tagalog. The Mi Doctora initiative represents a dedicated bilingual outreach to serve Arizona's vibrant Hispanic community, in culturally competent, linguistically native care.
Our providers come from academic programs spanning four continents, from George Washington University and Vanderbilt to the University of Guadalajara, St. George's University, and the National University of Singapore. This diversity isn't incidental; it's a strategic asset that mirrors the community we serve.
In an era where private equity firms are rapidly acquiring medical practices across the country, MomDoc stands firm as a privately owned, physician-led organization. We answer to our patients, not shareholders.
This independence allows us to make decisions based on what's best for women's health, not what's best for quarterly earnings. When Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona offered reimbursement rates that CEO Nick Goodman called "unsustainable," MomDoc made the difficult choice to terminate the contract, because accepting suppressed rates would have compromised our ability to recruit and retain the high-quality providers our patients deserve.
Arizona has 15.3% fewer obstetric physicians delivering babies than it did a decade ago. In the face of a severe national physician shortage, MomDoc's commitment to competitive compensation and a supportive practice environment ensures that we continue to attract the best talent in the country.
"We refuse to compromise the quality of our providers to subsidize underpaying insurance companies." Nick Goodman, CEO
Five specialized practices under one trusted name. Find the care that's right for you.
The same family that founded MomDoc in 1976 also founded MomDoc Charities, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to increasing support for community programs and families in need.
Our flagship program, Kid Connection Thanksgiving, hosts an annual feast for more than 600 foster children in group homes across Arizona. We've also built Mother's Rooms at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport and send supplies to families in Nicaragua.
When Nick Goodman learned that foster children in group homes don't get a real Thanksgiving (on the actual holiday, the staff is off and the kids are in their rooms), he moved the celebration to the Tuesday before. Now, 600 kids sit down to a real dinner with people who came just for them.
